Design
If you’ve checked desk setups on Instagram lately, you’ve probably seen a lot of people adding a monitor lamp to their gear. The idea makes sense: with a narrow focus, the light shines down on your desk without creating a glare on your screen and also not directing light in your eye.
The Quntis Computer Monitor Lamp achieves this goal, providing a comfortable light on my desk. Quntis includes a braided USB-C cable that connects to the back of the lamp. The other end of the cable is USB-A (regular size), which conveniently connects to the USB port on my monitor.
Quntis includes some spacers with the clamp to adjust from very thin monitors to thick monitors. There is a bit of an overhang on the front which is something to take into consideration because, depending on the bezels on your monitor, it could potentially put pressure on the display itself.
Performance
The color temperature setting can be adjusted from a warm white to a cool white. Resting your finger on the color temperature touch button slowly fades through the range of available settings (from 3000K to 6500K). The brightness setting also works the same way.
There is also an auto-brightness setting that takes the room’s ambient lighting into account and dims the light if the room is already bright.
The light remembers the last setting between power cycles, so I keep it plugged into the USB port on my monitor and it automatically turns on and off with the monitor.
