The RAVPower 120W 4-port charging station is meant to sit your desktop and supply power to your laptops, phones and tablets. Thankfully, there is no power brick to sit on the floor or oversized plug to block your outlets. The unit is fairly self-contained besides the AC input cord.

The dimensions of the charging block are 3.3 x 1.8 x 1.8in. It doesn’t take up much room on your desk and the two USB-C and two USB-A ports are located conveniently on the front.

Features

  • Two USB-C ports: This allows you to charge two devices at the same time, such as two laptops. When a single port is in use, the charger can output up to 100 watts, but when charging two devices, then each USB-C port receives a maximum of 60 watts (120 watts total).
  • Two USB-A ports: In addition to charging USB-C devices, this RAVPower charger can also charge your phones and tablets thanks to the two “regular” USB-A ports on the front.
  • Dim LED: The green LED is dim and shouldn’t keep you up at night if you’re using the charger in the bedroom.

Performance

These tests were performed with 1 USB-C port of the RAVPower 120W PD desktop charger in use.

Nintendo Switch

The RAVPower PD wall charger successfully supported the Nintendo Switch’s 15V charging profile, allowing you to play in handheld mode and charge at the same time.

Dell Chromebook

The RAVPower PD wall charger supported my Dell Chromebook’s 20V profile, allowing it to charge at full speed.

Acer R13 Chromebook

The Acer R13 Chromebook doesn’t officially support the Power Delivery standards, but the RAVPower PD wall charger was able to support its 15V and 45 watt profile.

Lenovo 14W Laptop

My Lenovo 14W Laptop (powered by Ubuntu!) was able to be charged with its 20V profile with the RAVPower PD wall charger.

Technical Specifications

  • USB-C PD Output: 5V⎓3A, 9V⎓3A, 15V⎓3A, 20V⎓5A
    • 100 watt max for either port when one port is in use
    • 60 watt maximum per port maximum when both ports are in use (120 watt maximum total output)
  • USB-A iSmart Output: 5V⎓3A, 9V⎓2A, 12V⎓1.5A
    • 18W maximum for each port

Great

The RAVPower 120W 4-Port Desktop USB Charging Station is ideal if you have multiple USB-C compatible devices to charge in addition to smaller phones and tablets that can charge from a USB-A port. The charging station is fairly self-contained and does not block other outlets.

The design of this RAVPower 40W charger is very similar to RAVPower’s 65W charger that we previously reviewed, coming in at just a hair smaller. Thanks to the GaN technology, RAVPower is able to make these chargers surprisingly compact, making them ideal for travel.

There is a small blue LED that lights up any time the charger is receiving power. The LED is not very bright and should be fine for a dark bedroom at night.

The dimensions of the charging block are 2.04 x 2.04 x 1.18 in. It’s only a little bit larger than the Apple 20W USB-C charger, but gives you twice the ports and double the power!

Features

  • Two USB-C ports: This allows you to charge two devices at the same time, such as two phones. Many laptops need at least 30 watts to charger, which this charger can provide if only one port is in use.
  • Foldable plugs: Being able to fold the prongs makes this charger ideal for travel.
  • Dim LED: The blue LED is dim and subtle, so it shouldn’t keep you up at night if you’re using the charger in the bedroom.

Dell Chromebook

The RAVPower PD wall charger supported my Dell Chromebook’s 12V profile, allowing it to charge quickly, but not at full speed which would be using the 20V profile.

Acer R13 Chromebook

The Acer R13 Chromebook doesn’t officially support the Power Delivery standards, but the RAVPower PD wall charger was able to support its 12V profile and charge it. However, it was not able to achieve full speed charging which would have been at 15V.

The RAVPower Magnetic Wireless Charger sports a similar design as Apple’s MagSafe charger. Instead of a white and silver design, the RAVPower Magnetic Wireless charger features a dark gray aluminum back with a black pad on the side that faces the iPhone. The charging puck is permanently attached to a USB-C cable.

Unlike Apple’s official MagSafe charger, this RAVPower charger comes with a small USB-C wall charger that is capable of providing a 20 watt charge with a Lightning to USB-C cable (not included) if you wanted to use it for wired charging.

So why choose a magnetic charger over a standard Qi charger? The main benefit is that you can pick up your phone without stopping the wireless charge since the magnets hold the pad against your phone. You can also position the cord for the puck in a place that doesn’t interfere with how you hold or rest your phone.

Performance

Although the included USB-C wall charger is capable of outputting up to 20 watts, I haven’t seen it exceed 7.5 watts when using the RAVPower magnetic wireless charging puck. This is likely due to Apple’s restriction of limiting third-party Qi chargers to 7.5 watts.

Interestingly, the RAVPower Magnetic Wireless Charger does show the MagSafe animation when attached to the iPhone, something that doesn’t occur with standard Qi chargers.

The magnets are not quite as strong the ones in Apple’s MagSafe charger, which actually makes it easier to remove it from your iPhone (I feel like I need to sometimes pry the Apple MagSafe charger off of my phone). The RAVPower’s magnets are strong enough that the pad stays securely against your phone while charging.

Features

  • Wall adapter included: It seems that most Qi chargers on Amazon do not come with a wall charger, but this magnetic charger from RAVPower does indeed include one.
  • Fast 7.5 watt charging: While it doesn’t seem to be able to reach the 15 watt output of Apple’s official MagSafe charger, it does provide a faster 7.5 watt charger (compared to standard Qi chargers that output 5 watts).
  • Magnetic attachment: The charging puck aligns automatically thanks to the built-in magnets, much like the official Apple MagSafe charger.

RAVPower 30000mAh 90W PD USB-C Power Bank

There is also a power button that, upon pressing it, lights up to 4 blue LEDs to indicate the remaining charge of the power bank.

Inside the package, the power bank includes an instruction manual and a 39.4 inch USB-C to USB-C charging cable. The dimensions of the power bank are 5.9 in x 3.4 in x 1 in.

Features

  • USB-C output: The USB-C port on the power bank can output up to 90 watts of power max. This is enough to satisfy most Macbooks and USB-C Power Delivery-compliant laptops, but can also charge smaller USB-C devices such as the Nintendo Switch.
  • USB-C input: The USB-C port also serves as an input for recharging the power bank itself. Most Power Delivery-compliant USB-C wall adapters should work to recharge the power bank. The power bank can accepts up to a maximum of 60 watts (20V⎓3A), so the more powerful the wall adapter, the faster the power bank will recharge.
  • USB-A output: The power bank also has a standard USB port that can be used to recharge iPhones, iPads, Android phones, Bluetooth speakers and the like. There is no USB-A cable included with the power bank, so you’ll need to use the device’s charging cable to plug into the power bank.
  • Programmable Power Supply (PPS) Support: This enables fast charging for Samsung Galaxy S20/20+ phones.
  • 30,000mAh capacity: This is larger than many other power banks and it’s important to note that at this size, it cannot be taken on your carry-on on airplanes. Using the standard USB-A port, you can charge an iPhone up to 6-7 times with this power bank. When charging a laptop, you can expect about 1 charge from the power bank before the power bank needs recharged (some energy is loss in the power conversion to the higher voltages).

RAVPower offers a nice variety of storage options for iOS devices. I recently reviewed some of their standard storage drive and now I’m checking out their storage and power bank hybrid.

Design

At first glance, this device looks like an ordinary power bank with a durable, aluminum exterior.  There is a Lightning cable built into the power bank, so it is not necessary to carry your own cable.  The end with the connector is larger than a standard iPhone charging cable, so it may not fit if you have a tight case on your phone, such as a LifeProof case.

There is a Micro USB port on the side of the unit that is used for recharging the power bank and retrieving your files of of the flash storage.  There is also a full-sized USB port on the other side that is for charging only.  You would need to bring your own charging cable for that port, but you could then use it to charge another device such as a Bluetooth speaker or GPS unit.

Pressing the power button will illuminate up to 4 blue LEDs that allow you to quickly check how much power is remaining in the power bank.

Capacity

The power bank has a 5000mAh capacity which is good to recharge an iPhone about 1.5 times.

The unit has 64GB of storage which should be enough for most people.  It would hold over 13,000 high resolution photos.  However, if you need more storage, you can expand it by inserting a SD card into the unit.  The unit can accept SD cards up to 256GB in size.

Features

This flash drive has one unique function over many others: it can charge your iPhone while backing up your photos at the same time.

The app has a convenient “one tap backup” feature that automatically transfers your new photos and videos to the flash drive.  This makes it quick and easy to ensure you have a backup copy of your content.  In addition, you can back up your phone’s contact list which can help you avoid asking for everyone’s number again on Facebook when you get a new phone.

You can protect your content with a password so other users can not take a peek at the files on your flash drive.

The app’s file browser allow you to view the built-in storage and SD card storage separately.  This is handy if you want to import some photos from your camera’s SD card onto your phone.

The app can also play back compatible files stored on the drive.  For example, you could load a movie on the unit and then watch it on your phone during a flight or road trip without using your phone’s data plan.  Please note that the files must be DRM-free and in a format that your iPhone can play (like MP4, for example).

Compatibility

The Lightning connector on this drive works with iPhone 5 or newer.  It also works with iPads with a Lightning connector.  The full-sized USB port can output up to 1 amp, which allows it to charge most phones, Bluetooth speaker and other USB-powered accessories.

This flash drive is almost functionally the same as the other RAVPower Lightning flash drives I recently reviewed.  However, this variation take more of a “cable” form and can be used as a charging cable in addition to backing up your photos.

Design

Similar to RAVPower’s other flash drive, the Lightning connector on this model is extended and fits many iPhone cases (except those super-tight cases like Lifeproof that only work with the original Lightning cable from Apple).  You can easily insert the flash drive into your phone without needing to remove the case first.

The cable also folds on to itself with a magnetic connection between the Lightning connector and the body of the unit.  This folds up the unit nicely for portability.

There is also a USB 3.0 connector on the other end of the flash drive.  This allows you to connect the drive directly to your computer to transfer photos, videos and music. The USB 3.0 compatibility means that your files will transfer at top speed when connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer (these ports are typically blue). Please note that most iTunes and Apple Music content is DRM-protected, which prevents the files from being played in most apps including the app for this flash drive.

Capacity

This drive is available in a 64GB capacity, which is typically more than enough for storing your photos and videos.  64GB provides a nice balance between storage and cost.

Features

This flash drive has one unique function: it can be used to charge your iPhone by plugging it into a USB charger or power bank.

Compatibility

The Lightning connector on this drive works with iPhone 5 or newer.  It also works with iPads with a Lightning connector.  The USB 3.0 connector works with virtually all computers as it is backwards compatible with normal USB 2.0 ports.

No need to feel regret for not buying an iPhone with more storage.  This Lightning flash drive from RAVPower can store your photos and videos so you can free up the space on your phone.

Design

Unlike many other flash drives on the market, the Lightning connector on the RAVPower flash drive is extended and fits many iPhone cases (except those super-tight cases like Lifeproof that only work with the original Lightning cable from Apple).  You can easily insert the flash drive into your phone without needing to remove the case first.

The flash drive also swivels into a protective casing when not in use, to help prevent the Lightning connector from becoming scratched up if you keep it in a pocket with your keys.

Capacity

This drive is available in both 64GB and 32GB capacities.  Both sizes are typically more than enough for storing your photos.  If you record a lot of videos on your phone, you’ll probably want to go with the 64GB so you have enough room to back them up.

Features

The app has a convenient “one tap backup” feature that automatically transfers your new photos and videos to the flash drive.  This makes it quick and easy to ensure you have a backup copy of your content.  In addition, you can back up your phone’s contact list which can help you avoid asking for everyone’s number again on Facebook when you get a new phone.

You can protect your content with a password so other users can not take a peek at the files on your flash drive.

Charge your device at the fastest speed possible with RAVPower’s 20100mAh external power bank, featuring Quick Charge 2.0 technology and a USB Type-C output.

PROs

  • 20,100mAh capacity: The 20,100mAh is enough to recharge an iPhone about 7-8 times and an iPad almost 2 times. This makes the unit great to have on hand when you’re traveling, camping, or otherwise away from an outlet for a day or two.
  • Charge gauge: Tapping the power button on the unit shows the remaining capacity using 4 blue LEDs. This makes it easy to see if you need to charge the unit before your next trip.
  • iSmart port: This smart identification technology from RAVPower means that the unit can adapt to basically any device you plug it into it. In my video, you can see that the smart port provides 1 amp to my iPhone, and i higher 1.86 amp charge to my iPad which allows it to charge at full speed.
  • Quick Charge port: If you have a smartphone that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology, you can fast charge it with the designated port on this power bank.
  • USB Type-C output: If you have a device that charges by USB Type-C, there is also a designated port for it as well.
  • Design: The smooth matte finish doesn’t attract fingerprints, and while the charger incorporates a lot of different charging technologies (iSmart, Quick Charge 2.0 output and input, and USB Type-C output), it is still very compact and portable.
  • 2 amp input: Since this has a 20,100mAh capacity, it would normally take a long time to recharge (up to a full 24 hours at 1 amp). However, this unit has a 2 amp input, so it charges twice as fast as other units (it can typically fully charge in about 12 hours at 2 amps). You will need a 2 amp charger to get the fastest charging speed, such as the charging brick that comes with an iPad.
  • Quick Charge input: The Micro USB input can also use a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 wall charger, allowing it to charge even faster than a 2 amp charger.

CONs

  • AC charger not included: This is typical with most power banks, but I thought I would point out that there is no AC charger (or Quick Charge 2.0 charger) included with this unit. You can likely use the power brick that came with your phone or tablet. In a pinch you could use your computer’s USB ports, but recharging can be extremely slow from a computer USB port (especially if it is an older USB 2.0 port).

Overall, this is another solid product from RAVPower that can adapt and charge a wide variety of devices, including smartphones, Bluetooth speakers, tablets, and Quick Charge 2.0 devices. The compact size and included carrying pouch also makes it easy to grab for on-the-go charging.
