Design and Fit

The EarFun Air wireless earbuds somewhat resemble the AirPods with their stem that extends down from your ear. Like the EarFun Free, they do not have any around-the-ear hooks or stabilizer tabs to help hold them in place, so they may not be ideal for intense workouts. However, they are comfortable to wear even for long periods and would be ideal for work or chores around the house.

There are two additional sets of ear tips included if the preinstalled pair is not comfortable for you.

Sound Quality

The sound quality is comparable to the AirPods, but these earbuds have a different earpiece that ”seals” into your ear canal and passively block external noise. This allows you to better focus on your music and hear the detail in your songs, but may not be ideal if you need to hear what is going on around you such as running near traffic.

Highs and mids are clear and lows are also strong, but not so overpowering that it makes the music sound “muddy”. Music sounds great and comes through loud and clear.

The microphone also works well, as the design points the stem with the microphone in the direction of your mouth. The second microphone on each earbud “listens” for background noise and helps filter it out, but I still find the microphone picks up some sounds like typing on my keyboard.

Features

• IPX7 Water-Resistance: This water rating indicates that the earbuds should be OK even if they are submerged in water (up to 3 feet 3 inches deep for 30 minutes or less). Please note that the charging case is not water-resistant.
• On earbud controls: Each earbud has a touch control as follows
  • Double-tap: Play/Pause
  • Triple-tap on right earbud: Next track
  • Triple-tap on left earbud: activate Siri/Google Assistant
  • Touch and hold on right earbud: Volume up
  • Touch and hold on left earbud: Volume down
• Qi and USB-C recharging: The EarFun Air utilize a USB-C connector for recharging the case. The case also supports wireless Qi charging, which is a nice bonus!

Compared to AirPods

As mentioned earlier, the EarFun Air have passive noise cancellation as they “seal” to your ear canal, while the AirPods (non-Pro model) are more open and allows outside sounds to come in.

Like the AirPods, you can use a single EarFun Air earbud if you want (either left or right), and the EarFun Air also automatically pause your music when you remove one of earbuds and resumes the music when your replace the earbud.

Bluetooth Performance

In my usage, Bluetooth performance seemed stable as I walked around the house. I could get about 30-40 feet away before I started noticing some blips in the music. Sitting near my laptop or router would also cause some interference and the occasional blip, but nothing out of the ordinary.

While watching YouTube videos on my phone, I did not notice any lip-sync issues while using the EarFun Air earbuds.

Battery Life and Charging

The earbuds can last up to 7 hours before needing to be recharged. The included charging case stores about 4 additional charges, so you can get up to 35 hours of listening time before you need to recharge the case.

The case itself takes about 2 hours to recharge via the USB-c cable (3.5 hours via wireless Qi charging). Please note that the case needs to be standing upright on the Qi charging pad to utilize wireless charging (it doesn’t work like the AirPods case which charges on the backside).

It doesn’t have any around-the-ear hooks or stabilizer tabs to help hold them in place, so they may not be ideal for intense workouts. However, they are comfortable to wear even for long periods and would be ideal for doing desk work, mowing the lawn, or doing chores around the house.

There are two additional sets of ear tips included if the preinstalled pair are not comfortable for you.

Sound Quality

Highs and mids are clear and lows are also strong, although the bass is not quite as strong as I’ve heard on more expensive earbuds. Still, music sounds great and comes through loud and clear.

• Mic: The earbuds are OK for the occasional phone call, but they do not offer any sort of noise cancellation for background sounds.

Bluetooth Performance

In my usage, Bluetooth performance seemed stable as I walked around the house. I could get about 30-40 feet away before I started noticing some blips in the music. Sitting near my laptop or router would also cause some interference and the occasional blip, but nothing out of the ordinary.

While watching YouTube videos on my phone, I would sometimes notice the audio was slightly out of sync, but other times it seemed fine. Pausing the video for a few seconds seemed to help correct any sync issues when they did occur.
