I was a little disappointed by their discontinuation of email support for free accounts as well, but I understand the need to sustain their free model. You can try reaching out to them on social media (Facebook or Twitter) or a moderator can help you on their forums if you post a message.

I purchased the 99 cent SIM card to use in my own phone, but did not have time to activate it yet because of work and because of taking care of an elderly parent. I did not get a phone number yet, but FreedomPop starting billing my credit card $32.98 for service they did not render.

I sent an email message and it was returned saying they would not respond to email. I tried calling customer support during their posted open hours and there was no answer. They seem to have the worst customer service on the planet so far. Now I’ll have to spend time calling the credit card company to dispute the charge. FreedomPop is just a huge headache.

Unexpected charges are the worst! While the only incorrect charge I had with FreedomPop was that $0.99 charge I mentioned in the article, the rep I talked with was very apologetic and refunded me promptly. If you send FreedomPop an email or contact them on social media, I’m sure they can fix up your account for you. You might also want to check the My Account > Services page on your account to double-check that Visual Voicemail is disabled (although, it sounds like you already tried this, so maybe something is out of sync on your account). Let us know how you make out!

They will bill you 2.50 a month for visual voicemail even if you do not have it activated, and you can not remove it or change your account settings thru the website, you have to call them. I will be calling monday to either cancel my account, or cancel the visual voicemail. I only wanted this as a emergency glove box phone, I do not need nor want visual voicemail and don’t appreciate that you can’t make changes to your plan or cancel your account thru the website.
